Nishikikoi

Nishikikoi, a social network for koi enthusiasts was a design exercise for creating a brand identity guide. The logo and aesthetic seek to incorporate some of the elegance, personality, and beauty of koi, that was sought for in the brief.

Make a Splash.

Simplicity, clean lines, and elegance are the key components of the logo design I came up with. Take the colors of koi, abstraction of the fish form/pond form, and a typical icon shape, and this is what results.

Make it stand out.

Taking Apple’s human interface aesthetic as a guide, clean lines, a bottom tray menu, and clear interactivity took the spotlight.

Explore.

Map integration with large graphics emphasize the community component of the “Koi-Keeping Network”.

Say...Fish?

Full-screen camera functionality allowing for real-time koi identification was a key feature of the Nishikikoi platform.

Back to Basics.

Or when camera functionality is unavailable or inaccurate, manual identification is possible as well.
